URUAPAN, Mich., August 23, 2026 - A transgender woman was shot to death early Sunday morning in the El Vergel neighborhood of Zamora.
Around 1 a.m., motorists reported to authorities that, on the road that connects to the El Vergel neighborhood, next to the train tracks, there was an apparently lifeless body.
Members of the National Guard and the Mexican Army were immediately sent to the site and confirmed the report by locating the body. The area was cordoned off and secured by officers.
During the inspection of the body, experts confirmed that it was a transgender woman, who had suffered several bullet wounds.
The body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service, where it will remain until it is identified and claimed by family members.
