Mackley was shot in a nightclub by an unidentified assailant.
An act of violence shocked residents of the border region after the shooting death of Mackley Maldonado, a 23-year-old trans woman, which occurred during the early hours of Sunday, August 23, in the state of Táchira.
According to information reported by Última Página Táchira, the crime occurred around 4:00 am, at the facilities of a nightclub located a few meters from the Sucre bridge.
According to testimonies gathered at the scene, an unidentified man entered the establishment carrying a firearm and went directly towards Maldonado, against whom he fired multiple shots before leaving the site.
The victim, affectionately known to her relatives as "La Mackley", lived with her mother in the upper part of the Simón Bolívar sector.
Commissions from the Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigation Corps (Cicpc) began investigations to clarify the circumstances of the homicide, identify the perpetrator and determine the motive for the attack.
Civil organizations and human rights groups asked the authorities to investigate the case with a gender perspective and to consider, among the hypotheses, the possibility that it was a transfemicide or a hate crime.
