Kethallyn's body was found in a suitcase. She was originally from Alagoas but had come to São Paulo state seeking a better life.
The president and founder of Casa Neon Cunha, Paulo Araújo, suspects that the transgender woman found decapitated inside a suitcase in São Bernardo do Campo is one of the people assisted by the institution. Official identification has not yet been confirmed.
In an interview with TV SBC and ABCD Jornal, Paulo stated that this suspicion arose mainly from characteristics of the body which are similar to those of the woman assisted by the shelter.
The body was found on Friday (21), in a wooded area on Avenida Ângelo Demarchi, between the Batistini and Demarchi neighborhoods.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that a pedestrian passing through the area smelled a strong odor and alerted the police. The body, still without official identification, was inside a suitcase. The case was registered as a homicide at the Specialized Criminal Investigations Department (Deic) in São Bernardo, which is conducting investigations to identify the victim and clarify the crime.
Kethallyn had been receiving help from Casa Neon Cunha since arriving from Alagoas in 2020. She used their safe space to eat, shower, and pick up clothes.
