Gabriela Denisse Banach

Gabriela's body was found in her home amidst signs of a struggle. The identity of her killler(s) is not known.

LGBTIQ+ rights activist Gabriela Denisse Banach (47) was found dead Tuesday night in her apartment at Cerrito 600, in the La Sexta neighborhood in the macrocenter of Rosario.

Authorities arrived at the scene after a neighbor reported seeing the body on their balcony floor. According to initial reports, the victim died from a blow to the head, and investigators are looking into a possible transphobic hate crime.

Local media confirmed that some neighbors reported hearing noises and screams coming from the apartment where Gabriela lived on Sunday, and that nothing was heard from the activist on Monday and Tuesday.

It wasn't until Tuesday night, around 10:30 p.m., that one of his neighbors saw the victim's body lying on the balcony from his apartment and notified the police.

Police sources confirmed that upon entering the activist's apartment, investigators found the body of the trans woman, who had been beaten to death. In addition, there was smashed furniture and overturned chairs, suggesting a struggle had taken place between Banach and her attacker.
