Raely was a firefighter. After her body was found inside her home her former partner was arrested on femicide charges.
A 29-year-old trans woman was found dead inside her home on Segunda Travessa Pernambuco, in the Bairro dos Estados neighborhood of Camaragibe, Recife Metropolitan Area. Raely Braz da Silva's body was discovered this Tuesday (4) by a family member who had to climb over the property's wall after noticing the gate was locked and the victim was not responding.
Upon the arrival of emergency teams, the Homicide Task Force forced open the main entrance to the house where Raely had lived for about a year. According to the police report, the home was ransacked, with bloodstains on the floor and the PVC ceiling partially melted.
Forensic experts from the Institute of Criminalistics (IC) identified wounds caused by a bladed weapon on the victim's neck and under her left arm. According to the Pernambuco Civil Police (PCPE), the perpetrator attempted to set the body on fire after the crime.
The body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) for examinations to assist the investigation. Police are gathering forensic reports and witness statements to understand the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
Raely worked as a civilian firefighter and had been in a relationship with 62-year-old Joel Fidelis dos Santos for about five months.
Joel Fidelis dos Santos was subsequently arrested on femicide charges.
