Suzane's body was found on the BR-153 highway. She had last been seen with a truck driver.
The Civil Police are investigating the death of a transgender woman identified as "Suzy" in Guaraí. The victim's body was found on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 7th, near the former State Revenue office, located on the BR-153 highway, about five kilometers from the city limits.
According to initial information, the victim had spoken on the phone with a friend, also a transgender person, a few hours before her death. Reports indicate that "Suzy" was passing through the city. She was seen in the company of a truck driver, a suspicion that became part of the police investigation.
There is suspicion that the crime was committed as a homicide by firearm, since the body presented consistent marks. The Civil Police are conducting investigations to try to identify suspects and clarify the circumstances of the crime. To date, there is no official confirmation regarding the perpetrator or motive.
In Brazil, transgender people remain among the most vulnerable to lethal violence, especially those involved in [sex work]. Data from civil organizations indicate that the country is among those with the highest number of homicides of this group, with many cases underreported and investigations inconclusive.
