Last Wednesday (December 20), a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing and beating his own partner, a 22-year-old trans woman, in the city of Pedra Azul in the Jequitinhonha Valley. The suspect had been in a relationship with the victim for about a year.
According to the Civil Police, the suspect was arrested red-handed for the crime, which took place in the Inconfidentes neighborhood in the city of around 25 thousand inhabitants. Investigations showed that the young man had struck several blows to the victim's head using a piece of wood and a knife. He had also pierced the victim's neck.
After receiving information about the crime, the Civil Police team went to the couple's residence, where they found the victim's body with signs of violence. Official forensics were called, carried out examinations at the crime scene and collected the piece of wood with blood stains found in one of the rooms.
According to the police, after finding the victim's body, agents located the man in a bar while searching the city.
