Anel was killed by assailants on a motorcycle who sprayed her salon with gunfire.
The murder of a trans woman in her salon is the thirteenth against a member of the LGBTQ + community in Veracruz only so far in 2020.
The business that Anel Valenzuela built with her efforts became the scene of her violent execution. The 45-year-old trans woman became a new murder victim in Veracruz by being executed in her own salon.
The case was reported on Twitter by activist Jazz Bustamante. The events occurred around 12:30 pm this Thursday in the San José neighborhood of the municipality of Fortín. The attackers were traveling aboard a blue motorcycle and released a flurry of shots at Anel's business. Later they fled down the Boulevard Emiliano Zapata towards the center of the municipality.
Minutes later, a group of paramedics arrived at the scene. However, Anel had already passed away. Her romantic partner identified her body.
