Pedrita's body was found in a hotel. There was bleeding from her nose and her body showed signs of mistreatment. The case was registered as a suspicious death.
Ribeirão Preto Police Station (DIG) are seeking information about the circumstances surrounding the death of [deadname] Alves da Silva, 47, a [trans woman] known as Pedrita, found dead on Sunday afternoon (10), in a hotel on Rua Américo Brasiliense in the downtown area.
The hotel owner told military police that the victim had been infected with HIV for 25 years, suffered from tuberculosis and was beaten a year ago, losing her sight.
According to the hotel owner, an employee brought lunch to Pedrita in his room and, returned hours later at 4pm to find her lifeless.
Pedrita was a drug user and it is suspected that she may have overdosed.
Vitória Régia, a representative of an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), told police she suspects Pedrita was ill-treated and not being properly cared for, since her body was bleeding from her nose and that her death occurred early.
The NGO representative, however, also stated that the victim had a history of narcotic use and therefore an alleged overdose could not be ruled out.
The case was registered as a suspicious death and sudden death without determinant cause, at the CPJ (Central Judicial Police), in Ribeirão Center.
