Angi García ("La Gata")

Angi's body was found in her home by family members on Wednesday 7th August. She had been strangled.

A trans woman known as La Gata died in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, bringing to eight the number of deaths (for murder or violent death) of trans people in Ecuador since the beginning of the year. A worrying fact, if we consider that, last year, there was only one case of murder in the country.

The death of La Gata came just two days after the discovery of the corpse of Karla Fernanda Silva, poisoned in the province of Cotopaxi after taking diet pills. The drugs are suspected to have contained Racumin rat poison.
