Maria was one of five people killed by hitmen in an attack inside a bar.

A tragic event occurred this Sunday, July 14 at 3:10 p.m. when five people lost their lives in an armed attack inside a bar located on Camarsa Alley and Sexta Street, in the Reina del Cisne neighborhood of the Santa Rosa canton. Among the victims is María* (Runa Sipiy Coding SX-ORO-1624714), a 40-year-old trans woman, known as “China Mayerly.”
According to witnesses, four men arrived at the scene on two motorcycles. Two of them got out of the vehicles, entered the bar and opened fire on the people who were there, who were distracted by drinking beer, talking and listening to music.
The authorities are carrying out the relevant investigations to clarify the motives of the attack and to identify those responsible for this unfortunate incident. We ask the public, if they have any relevant information about the incident, to contact the corresponding authorities.
We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Violence and insecurity must be firmly combated to ensure peace and security for all citizens.
For all of the above, we call on the Attorney General of the State, Diana Salazar, the Police Commander, Carlos Cabrera, the Minister of Women and Human Rights, Arianna Tanca, and the Ombudsman of Ecuador, Cesar Córdoba Valverde, to carry out an exhaustive investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this act.
