Murdered
Monica's bruised body was found floating in the Río Usumacinta (Usumacinta River).
In Balancán, Tabasco, a macabre discovery has shocked the local community. This afternoon, around 7:50 a.m., a [female] body was spotted floating in the waters of the Usumacinta River.
The body was found in the vicinity of the ramp located on calle Josefa Ortiz. The municipal authorities were alerted of the discovery by an anonymous phone call. They immediately went to the scene and cordoned off the area.
Agents of the local prosecutor's office were notified and took charge of removing the body, which was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for proper identification and autopsy.
According to initial reports, the victim, identified as [deadname] “N,” was carrying a personal identification card, which was found inside her bag and pierced around her neck. The victim’s origin has not yet been determined.
The tragic discovery took place on the banks of the Río Usumacinta at around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, specifically in the area known as the fishermen's "ramp."
Authorities are carrying out investigations to determine the circumstances of the [woman]'s death, determining whether it was a case of drowning or whether she died before falling into the water.
