Letícia was shot dead in the street on the night of Monday 10th August.

A [trans woman] was killed with several firearm shots on Monday night (10), [at the intersection of ruas Clarindo de Queiroz and Jaime Benévolo] in the center of Fortaleza. According to witnesses, Letícia Costa, had been working in the neighborhood for about four years, but has been out of Fortaleza for the past four months, having returned this Monday to the capital of Ceará.

According to witnesses, occupants of a vehicle and men on two motorcycles were seen leaving the area where the body was found moments after shots were heard.

In December 2020 the app car driver Bruno Adams Bezerra de Oliveira was arrested in connection with her murder. He had been identified from a vehicle seen at the scene.
