The victim's body was found in his home with signs of violence on his body.

A 49-year-old transgender person was killed in his Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie home on Saturday night, marking the first in a series of violent crimes that occurred overnight.

The victim's roommate discovered the body at around 7:30 p.m. The death was investigated at the scene by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), who determined that the person had marks of violence on his body.

A security perimeter was erected around the crime scene to allow investigators to come and go in the yellow housing on avenue Charlemagne.

In the neighborhood, neighbors, employees of convenience stores and restaurants, knew "by sight" the person murdered and described him as being trans.
