Leandro was a young trans man who died after being stabbed by a 17 year old during a fight. The perpetrator was arrested.
A 15-year-old teenager was found dead inside a Coyhaique home on Thursday.
According to information from the police, at around 04:00 hours they received a call that warned of a quarrel that occurred inside the domicile located on Calle Independencia. Captain Bruno Schulbach of the 1st Coyhaique Police Station explained that the troops found the young man on the ground, so SAMU staff were dispatched to provide first aid.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the victim and a 17-year-old teenager, identified by witnesses as the alleged perpetrator of the injuries that caused the young man's death.
According to witnesses a fight with knives had broken out between two [young people] after they consumed alcohol at a party held in the house.
Schulbach added that both the alleged perpetrator of the homicide and the victim were injured in the middle of this quarrel. The detainee was transferred to the Regional Hospital of Coyhaique to treat his injuries, where he remains hospitalized.
The Prosecutor's Office awaits the medical evolution of the suspect and will request the extension of the detention period pending the autopsy report of the deceased.
Prosecutor Luis Contreras Alfaro confirmed that the victim identifies with the male gender, and with the name of Leandro Parra Hermosilla. Because of this, the persecutor stressed that "we must be very careful about that aspect, and treat people by name and gender with which they recognize themselves."
Contreras added that several of those present tried to stop the fight, including the teenager, who was trying to prevent an assault when he was stabbed.
