Maria's body was found in an abandoned building. Near her body a piece of wood and a knife were found.
An unidentified 20-year-old [woman] was found dead on Wednesday afternoon at around 4 pm in an abandoned building on Avenida Djalma Batista.
According to the investigation team of the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Police Station (DEHS), the victim was recognized by people who live and work nearby, who reported that the [woman] lived with other homeless people at the scene.
Civil Police experts reported that the victim had a blow to the head and that a piece of wood, possibly used in the crime, was found near the body.
People also said that the abandoned building was used by drug users and that the victim was a [trans woman].
